Gudrun Hardardottir

Gudrun Hardardottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, and there she started having violin lessons as a child. During her studies in the Reykjavik College of Music she chose the viola as her main instrument, graduating in 1995. For further studies she went to Germany to study with Prof. Matthias Buchholz at the Hochschule fuer Musik Köln, where she got her Diploma in 2000. From 2000-01 Gudrun played with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra. Since 2001 she has been living in The Hague, concentrating on historical performance practise. She is now a student of Elizabeth Wallfisch and Kati Debretzeni at the Early music department of the Royal Conservatory. Gudrun performs regularly with baroque groups in Holland, Germany and elsewhere in Europe. She is as well a member of the Netherlands Low String Trio, N-ensemble, string quartet HUGO and The Icelandic string octet that recorded and toured with pop singer Björk.
